Purpose:
Headcount is required to support the implementation and achievement of the targets committed to by the Group against the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (Refer: Greenpeace Detox Campaign) as well as to support the achievement of the targets set out in the Group Environmental Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Impact on Business – The Group has made a public statement and commitment to work, collaborate and disclose progress on the identification, investigation and phase out of 11 classes of hazardous chemicals within the supply chain. The person in this role is expected to take the lead role within Asia with regard to the Company commitment to Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) and work with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the projects associated with the ZDHC.
? Leadership/Management Responsibilities – This person will be working closely with the Regional Manager – EHS on the management and / or participation in all of the ZDHC projects, both internally and any collaboration efforts with other multinational brands or organizations. He / she will be responsible for building and maintaining stakeholder engagement surrounding the (ZDHC) programme. He / she will be required to work with other colleagues / departments in support of the programme projects and provide oversight and reporting on the nominated Pilot Projects which will be established. In addition, this person will also provide technical support where needed to the overall SEA team and towards the achievement of the Group’s environmental targets.
? Key coverage –
While the ZDHC projects will initially have a strong focus on China and our supply chain there, the role will require the successful candidate to expand that focus to the wider Asia Pacific supply chain as the ZDHC projects get developed, implemented and rolled out regionally.
As an immediate start, the person will be required to commence work on the APEO communications with internal stakeholders as well as determining the chemicals that suppliers use in their manufacturing operations, how they control and report on the chemical ingredients which are being used in their total supply chains.
Key Relationships:
? Internal: Aside from the immediate interaction with the Regional Manager – EHS, the person will also be interacting with the Head of Environmental Services, VP of SEA Asia Pacific, GOPS (Regional Managers, Country Managers and their teams, Quality Managers, etc.)
? External: Multinational Brands associated with ZDHC; NGOs and other external stakeholders in support of ZDHC work scope
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
? Chemical, industrial or process engineer;
? Focus on materials and chemical industry experience
? English (competent in verbal and written communication) and Chinese (fully competent) language
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in chemical manufacturing, materials manufacturing, textile dyeing industry
- College or University degree in chemistry; Chemical / Industrial / Process engineer
