Job Description - EHS& CSER, Senior Manager
Summary of Position:
Management of the environmental, health and safety (EH&S) functions and providing leadership, direction and support in the following areas:
- Develop, maintain, and communicate core EH&S policies, standards and procedures, requirements and expectations, along with supervision and enforcement;
- EH&S compliance assurance program with effective legal update, corrective action process and best practice deployment.
- Provide guidance and support to EH&S operational personnel;
- Provide EH&S guidance and support for ongoing development, maintenance and communication of Corporate Social Environmental Responsibility program;
- Provide EH&S support for management of customer CSR, EICC and other requests; and
- The cross Business Segments and or Units nature of this position is very important, highly effective EH&S leadership across the network of Business Segments and or Units is essential.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, maintain, and communicate EH&S Policies, Program Checklists, Standards and Guidelines requirements and expectations;
- Maintain and continually improve the EH&S compliance management process, including third party EH&S regulatory compliance audits, and demonstrate compliance/actions taken for all Business Segments and or Units.
- Tracking and communication EH&S regulatory developments;
- Close liaison with local government and legislation offices as required;
- Provide EH&S guidance and support to EH&S personnel to maintain legal compliance and conformance to management systems and customer EH&S requirements, and promote continual improvement in EH&S performance;
- Utilization and inclusion of EH&S personnel for development of programs, procedures, policies, training, best practices, etc.;
- Where requested or when the need arises, provide hands-on support, including audits and investigation, to help operational EHS teams meet legal and corporate EH&S requirements;
- Communication and Development of EHS staff with regular meeting and or training along with expertise and information sharing.
- Proactively assess and manage EH&S risks, to mitigate any exposures;
- Provide guidance and develop training required to support EH&S policies.
- Reporting of significant EH&S Incidents along with root cause corrective actions.
- Ensure all Lost Time Incidents and Accidents are properly investigated and resolved, with appropriate H&S procedures and action plans in place to prevent recurrence;
- Assist in EH&S emergency preparedness planning measures to manage potential EH&S emergency situations, e.g. pandemic preparedness;
- Support FLEXplege implementation through review of SAQ, etc;
- Plan, manage and conduct FLEXplege internal audits;
- Provide EH&S support for management of customer EICC/CSR requests, including preparation for customer EICC/CSR audits;
- Maintenance of ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications;
- Involvement in hiring decisions and development of EH&S positions; and
- Develop and maintain the EHS intranet homepage.
Educational Requirements:
University Degree in a related field (Environmental Science or Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Hygiene, Engineering or Science with additional professional training in EH&S).
Experience:
· Minimum 10 years of working experience in related industrial EH&S functions with at least 3 years in management position are highly preferred.
· Professionally certified in occupational safety, or industrial hygiene is an asset.
· Trained as 14001 and or 18001 lead auditor is an asset
· Experience in aspects of corporate social responsibility and management of EICC is highly preferred.
