Purpose of the Position:
- Manage all aspects of environmental compliance for all locations in mainland China.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Environmental Due Diligence studies for all acquisitions or leases interact with legal, corporate real estate personnel and external consultants.
- Assure environmental compliance of ongoing operations- Compliance audits.
- Interpret environmental laws and regulations for various projects.
- Communicate with senior leaders and plant contacts information regarding compliance concerns or other improvement opportunities.
- Develop training, conferences and seminars for plants as appropriate.
- Participate remotely in various department meetings and improvement team efforts.
Project involved with:
- Manages diverse manufacturing locations and technologies for environmental compliance.
- Must deal with multiple issues simultaneously.
- Intimate knowledge of China's existing and proposed environmental regulations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor Degree Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years in manufacturing firm
- Experience with US based multi-national company
- Prefer some US educational background
Required Skills
- Understanding of environmental regulations covering air emissions, wastewater, solid waste handling, GHG, products.
- Environmental permitting processes for China at national and provincial level.
- Due diligence and compliance auditing - Ability to perform or utilize consultants and communicate results.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of environmental management systems (ie. ISO 14001) and recommend improvements as required.
- Assist facilities with development of management systems, permit updates, EIA documents, etc. as required by regulations.
Desired Skills
