Job Description
This is a senior EHS executive position for one of our key Business Groups. The position is a member of the Corporate EHS and the Business Group Senior Leadership Team with global responsibility and corporate-wide reach. The position reports directly to the Vice President of EHS with dual responsibility to the Vice President Operations. The position shares EHS management and performance responsibilities with Site Directors for the implementation and maintenance of sustainable global injury prevention and compliance programs. This is a global leadership role with primary responsibility to: continuously improve employee safety performance to world-class standards; ensure sustainable compliance; develop and implement company-wide EHS policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, and processes; and to support product compliance and sustainability initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Creates a safety culture by developing safety systems, policies and procedures, safety campaigns, and programs to eliminate, prevent or control hazards, acts or behaviors.
• Monitor, interpret and analyze business impact of EHS laws, standards or regulatory initiatives that impact the Business Unit in the geographic areas in which it does business.
• Develop, integrate and execute Business Unit strategies, policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, processes and actions throughout the business organization to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop, align and implement annual and short term EHS action plans, projects, initiatives, goals and objectives that maintain the balance between corporate objectives, business needs, and operations, including annual operating plans, capital planning, resource staffing and budgeting.
• Implement corporate and business unit strategy, along with organizational requirements to develop and execute activities to achieve EHS and business objectives
• Analyze all EHS implementation options; prepare risk analyses with costs and benefits; establish strategic planning process that leads to cost-effective and compliant operations; align business-unit wide resources to sustain EHS and business performance.
• Ensure the adequate assessment, prevention and management of EHS issues and risks arising from operations, incidents, company products. Inspects/assesses, monitors, investigates and/or recommends corrective action; conducts trend analysis; documents compliance with standards; performs technical work, program design and implementation, and has accountability for outcomes of EHS issues.
• Functions in a leadership role regarding: agency enforcement actions; regulatory proposals; permitting issues and negotiations; environmental technical, engineering, and science support; assessment and control of environmental issues arising from operational processes, equipment, and materials.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct assessments, inspections and audits to monitor compliance with regulatory and company requirements. Partner with operations to ensure that corrective and/or preventive measures are completed. Establish and enable processes to enhance corporate and operational capabilities for increased self-governance.
• Identify, establish and implement initiatives and continuous performance improvement opportunities that align Company EHS, Sustainability, ELS and business strategies.
• Supervise, coach and mentor the professional development of EHS professionals.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
• Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or technical discipline
• 10-15 years in the manufacturing or industrial business. At least 5 years in the senior EHS leadership role. Global experience with focus on the Asia Pacific region - a previous stint based in Asia would be strongly advantageous.
• Advanced certification in environmental related field.
• Proven leadership skills – able to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.

• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.
