Sentry Protection Products was formed in 1998 specifically to market innovative impact resistant equipment for industrial applications.
Located in Lakewood, outside of Cleveland, Ohio, Sentry has continually introduced new ideas to the industrial marketplace. Column Sentry® was introduced in 1998, followed by Rack Sentry®, Concrete Wrap™, and Corner Sentry™ products, demonstrating our ability to invent, design, and market innovative protective products. In 2008 Sentry introduced Park Sentry®, the first protection product specifically designed for parking garage columns.
Our original product, Column Sentry®, was invented in 1997 by a building contractor in Ohio. He had many customers coming to him to have him repair or replace columns in buildings he had erected. Most of these columns had been severely damaged by collisions involving forklifts. While appreciating the work, he nonetheless thought there should be a better solution than repair and replacement. In 1997, while putting up a building for a plastic molding company, he shared his ideas with the owner of the company. Together they sketched out some possible ideas, reduced it to one design, and created a prototype.
Sentry Protection Products was formed to market the Column Sentry product. Since May of 1998, Sentry has sold thousands of Column Sentry products around the world. In 2000 Sentry added Rack Sentry® to address the protection needs of the rack business, in 2001 Sentry introduced Concrete Wrap™ for concrete post protection, and in 2004 Corner Sentry™.
Sentry was awarded the
Plant Engineering Product of the Year Gold Award in 1998 for the Column Sentry product, and the Product of the Year Bronze award in 2000 for Rack Sentry. Rack Sentry Cutout won the 2010 IMHX "Design4Safety" award during the IMHX Expo in the U.K.
Sentry products are now manufactured in the US and Europe, and are sold all over the world, recognized for their simple design, ease of use, and tremendous value to their users. Sentry manufactures, stocks, and ships products quickly and conveniently; most products are quickly available and normal stock products typically ship in 48 hours or less.
Collision Sentry
Always on Guard
In industrial settings where forklift traffic and pedestrians intersect, Collision Sentry® can help reduce or eliminate “blind corner” collisions by providing a visual warning that alerts forklift drivers and pedestrians to approaching traffic. Working like a traffic light to flash a warning, the patent-pending Collision Sentry is easy to install, self-powered, highly visible and reliable.
The Collision Sentry Advantage
Self-powered
- Uses standard D - cell alkaline batteries, eliminating the need for any wiring to a facility's electrical system.
- Batteries are designed to operate for one to two years depending on usage.
- Low-battery indicator sends a warning well in advance of batteries needing replacement. Replacement batteries are readily available.
Passive Infrared Motion Sensors
- Programmed to detect motion on both sides of the corner.
- Sends ample warning to the forklift driver and the pedestrian to correct their movements.
- PIR sensors are a proven technology used in security lighting and alarm systems.
- They are rugged, feature a wide lens range and don't wear out.
- PIR sensors are pre-set and ready to use. No adjustment necessary.
Highly visible LED lights
- Flash a warning when motion is detected from both directions.
- Long life, require minimal or no replacement.
- Warning lights flash only when someone is really there. Less false reads.
- Send powerful visual warning of a possible collision.
Portable
- Requires minimal space and no tools for installation.
- Installs easily and virtually anywhere.
- The unit is compact, lightweight and can be deployed immediately following installation.
- Can be easily snapped onto pallet racking systems using included magnet mounts.
- Tether included with each unit for added fastening security.
