What is an Arc Flash?
Arc Flash is the result of a rapid release of energy caused by a fault between a phase bus bar and another phase bus bar, neutral or a ground where the air is the conductor. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), says it is “a dangerous condition associated with the release of energy caused by an electric arc.”
Who is exposed to an Arc Flash? Utility workers who are lineman, meter service technicians, trouble-men, field service locators, and anyone else working on energized lines. Also, in general industry, electricians working on electrical installations may be exposed.
NASCO introduced the first electric arc resistant rainsuit in 1987. Since that day, NASCO has grown to be the pre-eminent supplier for North America’s electric utility work force.
Our ArcWear products have been developed to address the specific needs and hazards of the electric utility industry. The ArcWear product line provides waterproof protection for workers exposed to traffic and electric arc hazards.
